In the days following Operation Overlord, a clerk in the War Department informed this lieutenant (Eric Loren) of the deaths of three brothers in the Ryan family. Aware that a fourth brother, Private James Ryan, was probably still alive, the lieutenant brought the matter to the attention of Captain T. E. Sanders. |
