A stick is defined as "a number of paratroopers who jump from one aperture or door of an aircraft during one run over a drop zone." Because of mission requirements and the size of the plane used for a drop, the number of paratroopers in a stick is a highly variable number. For D-Day most sticks would have numbered around 18-20 paratroopers.
