In 1942 Alice Jardine and Daniel Ryan were making out in the hayloft of the Ryan family barn when the two were discovered by Daniel's three younger brothers. Fleeing from embarrassment, but with a shirt still wrapped around her head, Alice ran straight into a wall and knocked herself unconscious. The resulting altercation between the Ryan brothers almost burned the Ryan barn down. Alice is described by James Ryan as extremely unattractive, and it can be assumed that Daniel, due to leave for Army basic training the next day, may have been desperate for female companionship, or may have used his situation to manipulate Alice in exchange for her favors. |
